MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Analgesic action is due to rising pain threshold but has weak peripheral anti-inflammatory component and prevention of PG mediated sensitization of nerve endings.
Antipyretic action is due to resetting of hypothalamic thermostat and rapidly reduces fever by promoting heat loss.
Anti-inflammatory action is due to inhibition of PG synthesis.
ADVERSE EFFECTS:
Gastric discomfort, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, blurring of vision, tinnitus and depression.
USES:
Analgesic, antipyretic, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries, fracture, vasectomy, tooth extraction.
