Librosar Tablet (Chlordiazepoxide & Trifluperazine Hlordiazepoxide (Librosar) MECHANISM OF ACTION CHLORDIAZEPOXIDE:- It is an antianxiety drug. This act primarily by facilitating inhibitory GABAergic transmission. PHARMACOKINETICS CHLORDIAZEPOXIDE:- Its plasma half life 5-15 hrs but active metabolites are produced which extend duration of action. ADVERSE EFFECTS:- Poor anticonvulsant action. PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION OF TRIFLUPERAZINE: In normal individual it produces indifference to surroundings, paucity of thought, psychomotor slowing, emotional quietening, reduction in initiative and tendency to go off to sleep. In psychotic individual it reduces irrational behaviour, agitational aggressiveness and control psychotic symptomatology. Disturbed thought and behaviour are normalized, anxiety is relieved. Hyperactivity, hallucinations and delirium are suppressed. PHARMACOKINETICS OF TRIFLUPERAZINE: Its effect lasts for 6-8 hrs. The elimination t1/2 is variable, but is in range of 18-30 hrs. SIDE EFFECTS: Little hypotension and sedation.
